I understand that trauma can cause memories to work in weird ways and that a lot of the time it takes time to fully understand what happened. But if a precedent is set that someone can come back years later and entirely rewrite a course of events from how she originally described them and we now just have to ignore her original testimony, doesn’t this force us to legally consider any victims testimony after a traumatic event as something that cant be taken as fully trustworthy?

There are plenty of gay men who will get loaded up on alcohol or drugs or a combination of both and do all manner of unspeakable acts with five 10, 15 other men. If that one man came out later and said he had been raped Would you agree with him? Would you say all the other men should’ve known not to touch him because of his potential lack of awareness? Hmmmm
