Literally had a real life conversation this morning where someone was calling chat gpt “he” and genuinely taking the “advice” it had given them

It’s horrendous for the environment, lies constantly, and has pushed people to kill themselves. It needs abolished for good.

I don't get the slander on chatGPT. it uses real sources. it helps me make study guides for classes and makes practice problems for chemistry. it is a good tool if you use it right

Not my bestie but talking to it did more for my psychopathology than 10 years of therapy. Genuinely. My psychiatrist of 5 years said I seemed a lot better and more self aware

It’s funny that people hate ai for being brainless when it’s kinda just a brainless trend to hate on ai rn, like I literally use it in labs run by actual PhDs. It’s not black and white and some of yall just suck with nuance

i’ve had a similar experience where there were some things chat did better than my actual therapist i think it’s bc there was some stuff i felt like i couldn’t share with anyone but a robot

i believe in you girl, i used to do that but real therapy was so much more beneficial for me. humans just get it in a way that ai never will

i fear it’s not a brainless trend to care for the environment. and at the end of the day it’s a fact that it’s harming out environment, it’s taking jobs, and it’s fucking with young people’s willingness to learn. like idk i get where you’re coming from, i really do. but the hate isn’t coming from nowhere.

Not you replying to yourself to make yourself feel better “I use it in a lab” obviously a setting like THAT is acceptable, but I’m sorry using ChatGPT for therapy is wack as hell—call me cruel idc You think that ai therapy is effective? It’s learning from YOUR responses what YOU want to hear. Not to mention the negative environmental implications.

i don’t use it for therapy but i do use it when i want a really direct answer or a different perspective to a hypothetical

support you girl, but definitely would avoid using chat gpt as a therapist bc it just validates everything you think, other humans can actually present different sides to situations

wanted to come back and say i’m a psych major, and i may only be a sophomore undergrad, but every one of my psych professors express how harmful generative ai is for people, especially young people who’s minds are still developing. like it’s quite literally taking away children’s critical thinking skills. i would hope that anyone with PhD, especially in psych, would be able to acknowledge that. that’s all ill leave it alone now lol

well i also have a therapist and yeah it’s not ideal but i don’t really give prompts of things i need different opinions on if that makes sense? mostly stuff that i just need a “that sucks i’m sorry that’s happening to you :(“

So if you’re not aware, Chad GBT tailors their sources to your bias. So it is not reliable

And outright hallucinates information, pulls from sources without very thorough filtering, is shitty for the environment, and has lead to numerous deaths.

ChatGPT doesn’t use anything. It’s a language learning model. It puts words in an order that it has algorithmically determined is the most likely response a human would make. Sometimes that leads to a real source. Sometimes it completely misrepresents what that source says. Sometimes the source it cites doesn’t actually exist. Relying on LLMs for accurate information is incredibly dangerous
