i had mine out my freshman year of hs. honestly surgery is surgery. it’s going to be uncomfortable. just ice it and take meds as prescribed. the pain from the surgery itself wasn’t that bad. i had more discomfort from flushing the holes with saline

It’s so much fun. I tripped hard on the anesthesia I hallucinated that I had 4 eyes. Whats not fun when it wears off. Make sure you take plenty pain killers and have soft foods handy. SMOOTHIES ARE BEST BECAUSE ONCE YOU EAT TOO MUCH JELLO AND ICECREAM YOULL WANT TO DIE

me personally I was too wrapped up in coming out of anesthesia and the pain to worry about my appearance. the numbing did make me feel like my lips were super swollen even though they weren’t

Haha my post definitely makes it seem like I care about my appearance but I meant more so my jaw doesn’t hurt🤣 I’ve had pretty bad TMJ over the years and any tips for soothing the pain would be amazing. Yogurt an ice cream is noted tho!

well it’s going to hurt some. follow the instructions they give you about making sure everything is clean. do your best to take the meds you get even though it’s hard when your mouth is still numb

actually I’m not sure hurt is the right word. I had more soreness/discomfort and not really intense pain
