hot take but a woman slapping a man is not the same as if a man did it😭 I get the whole equality argument but it’s literally not the same thing. not an okay thing to do in general but if a woman slapped a man for being disrespectful like😭how’s it the same

because if any man slapped a woman for ā€œbeing disrespectfulā€ he would be called an abuser it doesn’t matter who hits harder, it’s a double standard. why would you do the exact thing that you don’t want done to you?

It’s definitely not treated the same. Girls have a much higher amount of leeway to strike their boyfriend without being called an abuser. The issue is when that privilege is abused.

this is the equality argument I said in the post…. I get it but the point is it’s not the exact thing. physically and also just societally like if a man is slapping a woman it is almost 100% of the time for a completely opposite and wrong reason, majority of the time if women do it it’s because they are being disrespected or harassed or a man deserved it😭like I get it, bc they say that about us but that’s the pointttt men systematically abuse women. idgaf if you slap a man. abuse is different

I will never support a woman abusing a man or anything like that I understand that’s real and valid, i’m talking about specifically when women react in a physical way we are expected to be treated jus like men when they’ve been beating raping and murdering us for thousands of years 😭😭

it’s not equality, it’s why would you treat someone in the same awful way you don’t want to be treated. it’s an entirely different argument. and just because SOME men have made bad choices doesn’t make it okay for us to physically hurt the ones who hasn’t. it’s just an awfully aggressive and immature take

I agree with what you are saying, but it doesn’t negate the post or the way I feel

not for some reason… it would no matter what: the skinniest guy you know is still most mostly stronger than you just bc they are biologically

that idea comes from misogynist thought, every women is not inherently weaker than every man

the dynamic of a man slapping a woman and a woman slapping a man is 100% different; that said, we’re in a weird middle ground where we’ve begun addressing DV while still buying into seemingly-innocent perspectives rooted in patriarchy. this can make it more difficult for male victims to even realize it’s abuse (let alone for them to be taken seriously by others)

that said; in either dynamic, the perpetrators have some sort of power over the victim based on their gender(s), and they’re very different types of leverage. it doesn’t do either situation justice to put them on a scale and compare when they’re not 1-to-1

sidenote, but hitting someone who you're supposed to love is extremely toxic behavior, even if you're in the "right." being overcome with emotion and slapping someone happens, but it’s incredibly gross to try excusing or justifying it. it’s wrong regardless of the situation.
