ik they’re not the best but if you’re worried about the pain, mine only felt like a little pinch. i was also really worried i’d have a bad reaction to being seen like that but i talked to my doctor and she was so great about it i wasn’t even nervous. they’re so so important for your health too they’re so worth it!

it’s really not that bad i promise! definitely uncomfortable but it really just feels like pressure or a really really light cramp. they lube u up and most of the time a woman is doing it so she’ll know what’s uncomfy!

I’ve heard people say it hurt so bad it made them cry and I’m not getting one until I can be 100% assured it won’t hurt or I’ll get some kind of pain blocker

if you’re worried about pain and ensuring you can avoid it, i really really suggest getting it done. cervical cancer is 100% more painful in every way possible than anything you could feel from a pap smear

Convinced me when I was scared 🤷🏻‍♀️ cancer and dying young scares me more. It’s also really only women with vaginismus who get intense pain like that from the speculum. You can’t feel the actual swab. If you’ve ever had sex or honestly even just used a tampon you’ll know if it’s going to hurt or not

also they won’t force it if you’re like it hurts too much when i got mine they took their time when i said it was hurting kinda bad but even then i was fine like as soon as it was done just a bit sore

Tampons are very very uncomfortable for me so yeah I think a Pap smear will be painful for me

all things you can discuss with the gyno to help you figure it out- you wouldn’t be the first person to be sensitive down there i’m sure they’ve had patients with the same concerns before just talk to them about it!
