Idk where else to talk about this, someone gave me herpes and idk when or who, and I just started talking to this amazing guy right around the time I found out and I’m scared to tell him, I obviously will tell him but I’m just scared of his reaction

Having herpes isn’t the end of the world I promise, it’s unfortunately super common. If he decides to walk away due to the diagnosis that’s okay. You will find a partner who understands and will still care for you deeply. And no matter what, it is NOT your fault. It’s the piece of crap who had it and didn’t tell you, and if you find out who, PLEASE sue them because that is illegal. -someone who contracted herpes at 17

The worst thing is I don’t think they knew/know cause everyone I’ve slept with never had any sores or symptoms (that I know of for symptoms) and i just found out this today when I noticed an outbreak, I originally thought I just had a UTI which I do, and I just went on the date Saturday and he said he wants to take things slow and now I just don’t know when/how to bring this up

Btw, you can have no symptoms and still have an STI or STD. That’s why it’s invaluable to be checked regularly. It’s not the end of the world, but please keep this infor in mind.

Ik I do get checked regularly but apparently a lot of places don’t test for herpes Anymore unless someone is having symptoms

It will be a hard thing to talk about for sure, but it needs to be mentioned and the sooner the better. Just take the talk slow and tell him you would understand if he didn’t want to proceed

Ik it does, it definitely will be after I find out what exact strand I have and learn about the one I have so I can answer questions if he has any and so I know what to actually say
