the voice of tex dinoco is by Humpy Wheeler who’s known as the legendary nascar promoter and is the former president of the charlotte motor speedway! charlotte nc is also home to the nascar hall of fame which has a life size statue of lightning mcqueen in it :)

my favorite is cars 3!! the thomasville speedway is another fake mashup of real places here in nc! both are old dirt tracks that inspired doc’s dirt track racing days. one of them is super close to my house and is a hiking trail now and it’s still got old cars from its racing days around it

i went on a deep dive after my pawpaw passed and now regularly go to the old speedway he used to race at because it got fixed up into a new track! he raced when it was dirt and after it got fixed up he started working there being the man with the flags and cutting the grass and stuff
