probably my most woke opinion is that i genuinely don’t think gender exists. it’s all just stereotypes and social norms

I’m not a fan of RuPaul, but… we’re born naked, everything else is drag.

you said gender roles are seen in animals that don’t have complex thinking and then used them as an example. was that a typo?

Ya like we all have genitalia and hormones that make us act a way but the overall effect of how we are all forced into/made to think what we are supposed to do is so fucked and not in the good way

well hold on bc this is veering dangerously close to bioessentialism lol. genitalia does not influence behavior in any significant way

yeah hormones obviously affect us biologically but they don’t influence behavior in any significant way. male and female hormones differ but that has a much greater impact on like… muscle growth than any personality traits. basically what i’m saying is regardless of hormones the societal expectation around what a man/woman is and how they should act and what they should want has a much greater impact on behavior

Ya the system/ media has taken control of how we act with gender identity fs but I still can’t agree with the hormones not causing us to act the way we do or want the things we want. We can override them with our mind but at the end of the day they are still there

what do you think hormones cause people to want? when i say hormones don’t control our behavior i mean there is no basis for women being feminine or men being masculine based off of hormones only. maybe they can influence that but the foundation FOR those things comes from society and stereotypes, not any inherent biological characteristic

Hormones never dictated that “pink and makeup is for girls” or “car and football are for boys”. It’s a really reductive argument but I think that’s what OP is getting at. Sure, we have our very basic, hormonal driven instincts like reproduction, but gendering hobbies, interests, item, etc. is entirely a symptom of society and, to be honest, effectively just fake and made up.

Don’t know why autocorrect didn’t want anything to be plural in my reply but whatever I think I got my point across
