
yeah hormones obviously affect us biologically but they don’t influence behavior in any significant way. male and female hormones differ but that has a much greater impact on like… muscle growth than any personality traits. basically what i’m saying is regardless of hormones the societal expectation around what a man/woman is and how they should act and what they should want has a much greater impact on behavior
what do you think hormones cause people to want? when i say hormones don’t control our behavior i mean there is no basis for women being feminine or men being masculine based off of hormones only. maybe they can influence that but the foundation FOR those things comes from society and stereotypes, not any inherent biological characteristic
Hormones never dictated that “pink and makeup is for girls” or “car and football are for boys”. It’s a really reductive argument but I think that’s what OP is getting at. Sure, we have our very basic, hormonal driven instincts like reproduction, but gendering hobbies, interests, item, etc. is entirely a symptom of society and, to be honest, effectively just fake and made up.
