why do so many guys say theyre afraid of being alone with a woman because they’re scared she’ll accuse them of rape and ruin their lives? the precent of wrongful convictions is so low so where tf is this coming from?!

Yeah and the percent of pedos is also incredibly low; would you leave your kid alone with a stranger overnight? Low probabilities can be balanced by high impact outcomes. One false rape accusation can ruin a guy’s whole career…

while the percent of pedos is low sure, every 9 minutes a child is sexually assaulted. thats a much higher percentage so not sure if thats totally comparable especially with the outcomes of both being so different.

sure i get your point, the reason i posted is because i think feeling so strongly like this invalidates the very real flip probability of a woman being assaulted but i can understand how they can feel like that, i asked why they feel like that as in what makes them feel like that when it’s a rare thing

There are tens of not hundreds of males (celebrities are such a prime and obvious example) with multiple SA allegations still with thriving careers, still enrolled in colleges/universities, still with supportive friends and family even when there is so much proof/probable cause they did in fact do it (just “not enough” for conviction). So how would I completely false allegation with absolutely zero proof besides “we were alone for like 20 mins” do that much damage?

B/c for a falsely accused man there is no recourse, their career & reputation are just gone. Sure, not as bad as assault, but it’s not nothing.

Court of public opinion is different from a court of law. The former requires no proof. Regardless it honestly pmo how few cases actually lead to convictions despite proof.

It’s really not that rare. 2-10% is a notable slice of the pie. And that’s only the accusations that are *proven* false. A lot of SA accusations get dismissed for lack of evidence; there’s no way to tell how many of those are false.

Anytime that a guy points anything like this out, he gets attacked. On here, that just means downvotes. IRL, it means social castigation. Almost every guy knows that, so we don’t typically engage with the topic. We just let women have their echo chamber about “false accusations never happen”…

My statement included court of public opinion. Like I said there are many men out there who are confirmed even convicted abusers and SAers who still have loving supportive friends and family. Sometimes even the community will question the victim on things like what they wore before they will condemn the assaulter/abuser. I do agree with the last statement though, even in cases where it’s literally videographed it can lead to a slap on the wrist. It’s disgusting

“How could a completely false allegation do any damage” you know men have done time for false allegations right
