Take a class and go to a gun range that does rentals first! That’ll get you more comfortable with shooting in general, but you can also try out different guns to see what you like best before you commit to buying one. If you have a friend or family member who knows a lot about guns, see if they’ll go with you. They can give great pointers about shooting and advice for picking out the right weapon

I’m a life-long gun owner. PLEASE take a class on how to properly handle, clean, shoot, & store your weapon!! I have a S&W .380 with a dovetail safety and I love it :)

Take a firearm safety course and then concealed carry! Make sure you know how to safely operate the firearm seeing as part of the issue comes from people simply being stupid with them!
