FRRRR!!!! a starter home in a nice, non-busy, non downtown area for just one or two people with one bathroom used to be maybe $80,000 when we were growing up. today, they’re easily $200,000. my parents bought our house (big enough for the six of us) back in 2008 for $300,000, and now it’s worth $600,000. just plain ridiculous. oh and incomes haven’t risen at all.

I just looked up our family home (very basic 4 person family home, not very well constructed) and apparently bought it for 205k in 2008 and it’s worth almost 400k so also doubled just like yours

my mom went back to work after being a stay at home mom but like they were able to raise us on a single income back when we were growing up it’s just crazy how times have changed
