My dad just paid me $20 for having the flu. Didn’t ask how I was or if there was anything he could do to help or if I needed medication, just sent me money and said nothing. This may sound great to some… but imagine your parent being that checked out

I’m sorry :( my dad was like this growing up but I don’t talk to him anymore. But if it gives you some hope- (I live with my grandparents now) my grandma and I are both sick, my grandpa went to the store for medicine, gingerale, crackers etc, he also made a huge vat of his homemade chicken noodle soup for us (polish penicillin is what he calls it), offered to serve it for me & has been asking both of us if we need anything

I’m away at college, my mom (who I live with when home) offered to come visit and bring me my favorite soup and texts every few hours checking in, my dad didn’t even know I was sick until I mentioned it in a group chat with his wife my brother and my step sisters and he dint even say get better in the group chat just sent me money. I appreciate the money and I’ll order dinner since it’s a lot of effort walking to the dining hall with the flu but a how are you would’ve sufficed
