it’s not only women, men just abuse the patriarchy and manipulate scriptures so they don’t have to

i always wonder how do we know if a bunch of the rules in scriptures were just added randomly by terrible people and we can’t even know

religion was created as a tool to control women and i’ll die on that hill

I grew up in a very strict denomination and my dad was like “I want to go back to church” and my mom and I said no because his lifestyle doesn’t have to change. We have to give up, cutting our hair, pants, short sleeves, jewelry, makeup, clothing above the knee. While most men’s clothing fits those requirements with no problem. And most stores now don’t sell a lot of modest clothing so it will be harder for us to find things to wear. It’s why I switched denominations

At least for Judaism, its the men who get circumcised, and depending on branch, have to wear a head covering, and keep a beard.

they already do that with the current scripture, and they did it when translating the scripture to english, so i wouldn’t be too surprised if someone did similar when it was written

That compared to the oppression women have to face in virtually all religions is laughable

You said “women with all the bullshit rules”, which implies men dont have them. In Judaism, that is false. (Its also matrilineal fun fact)

Yes because that is definitely equivalent to thousands of years of oppression.

Wouldn’t that mean they’re equal in modesty tho?

It’s not fair for a man to walk around without having to change his life and be seen as equally or more devoted than a woman. I don’t think that god would consider that fair.

You said “basic human rights violations”, and I would say non-consensual genital mutilation falls under that, certainly does for female circumcision

idk i feel like you can’t equate the two based on brutality, impact, scope, and rationale
