They are trying to put software inside of the printers to monitor everything that is being printed which would stifle small repair shops and hobby printers just for the small fringe case of the off chance someone 3d prints a weapon. Even if this passes, people will still find ways to get printers that don’t have these safety measures and do it anyway, destroying the repair it yourself market in the process

It’s not just that, it’s additive and subtractive manufacturing meaning milling machines and CnC machines that make spare parts for trucks and tractors on the fly. Those parts could be copyright claimed and then the original manufacturers then price gouge, making the cost of living more unattainable for EVERYONE
