in need of some help. i’m getting my IUD next week and im scared!! anyone who has one, please tell me everything!! how bad does it hurt, can you feel it? HELP

I HAVE ONE!!!!! it felt like a really bad cramp going in. I recommend taking ibuprofen like 30 min before the appt to help. It hurt in the moment, but I was fine to drive myself home after!!

also personally I have Mirena and I like it a lot, my periods are so much lighter now and symptoms have gotten way easier to manage. for seven years of coverage it’s SOOOO worth it!!

I can’t feel it in general but my fiancé has said once or twice he thought he could lmao, but I don’t feel anything. there are little strings that hang down a bit for emergency removal but I can’t feel them either bc they stay up so high in there

Love my Mirena too. It’s actually up to 8 years BC coverage with up to 5 for bleeding control and other symptoms :)
