all squares are rectangles. do you call all squares rectangles? probably not, because it would be misleading and confusing even if technically true. same thing here. sexual selection is a subset of natural selection, not the same thing, just as squares are a subset of rectangles, not the same thing

Ok so your logic literally proves what I just said though? Yes, by definition, a square is a rectangle. Yes, by definition, sexual selection is natural selection. If we lived in a world where square was a less common term to be used, if I saw a square I would call it a rectangle. Natural selection is the more commonly used term for any sort of natural impact on the survival of an animal’s genetic lineage. It’s ok to be wrong sometimes I promise 😭
