Maybe this makes me ignorant, but when someone corrects my American pronunciation of something with a, for lack of better words“foreign” pronunciation. I think it’s kinda dumb. Before you down vote me, let me explain in the comments.

My example of this is “habanero”. I say “Hah-Ben-air-oh”. Context: I work at a place where there is habanero on the menu, so I get many people correcting me my pronunciation. mind you, anyone who corrects me has the adjacent accent. But I’m not going around fixing anyone with a non-American accent pronunciation on American words. I just think it’s weird how people will hate on me in as American for not pronouncing words “properly.” When it’s literally just accent.

One of my old coworkers used to order Mexican with the most overdone fake accent to “pronounce words correctly” to the point where I actually thought he was being racist the first time he did it. “Uh yeah can I get uh… one BOOORRRRITTTTOOO and um one chicken TAAKKKO.” I started ordering mine fully actual in Spanish and he stopped
