no fr, the other day my mom was like it’s so nice outside today if it wasn’t for the heat, aqi is only 500 and it feels like even less

Is there a reason why that happens so much in Delhi? I’m assuming it’s because of the amount of people and vehicles, then I feel like the climate there also has something to do with it. I knew there are big cities in China deal with the same thing. Then Cuba to a smaller extent because most of the cars there are pretty old

there’s so many things that contribute that idek what the biggest factors are. you’re right that there’s a lot of vehicles bc of the insane population density, and even though there’s a lot of regulations on emissions compliance for different fuel and vehicle types and how max age of cars allowed on the roads, it’s still not enough of a deterrent (1/2?)

then there’s also industrial pollutants and seasonal factors like slash and burn agriculture in nearby states, or significantly worse, fireworks during diwali. the govt bans sales except for greener alternatives but they’re still EVERYWHERE. like even n95 masks don’t help in the aftermath (2/2)

The apple weather app AQI isnt as accurate as airnow.gov which is what im looking at

they’ve implemented an odd-even policy in the past where vehicles with license plates ending in odd digits are only allowed on odd dates and even on even dates (with a few exceptions for service vehicles and school hours etc) and it has helped quite a bit but there’s still a lot of people who’d rather just pay the fines than deal w the inconvenience 🙃
