I'm Christian and a lesbian. I still swear. God loves us all unconditionally. Anyone that thinks you aren't Christian enough is projecting.

Me and my ex were/are Catholic. I still swear and commit other sins though. Just remember that you don’t need your mom’s approval, as long as you’re trying to be a good person and honor God and everything you’re good! God is the one who judges us in the end, not your mom

btw we are both in college. we don’t regularly attend church, we sometimes pray together, but at the end of the day we believe the basics of christianity. im scared to talk to my mom about this because i fear we aren’t “christian enough” for her traditional standards and she’ll say that i’m fooling myself because i’m not living as she lives so therefore i’m not a real christian

yeah i don’t need her approval. its the people pleaser in me that constantly tries to tell me i do 😭 but she also doesn’t approve of my bf so that’s lowkey out the window lol. i’m just honestly scared to have that conversation with her, cuz she’s really great at tough conversations and “winning” them and i suck… i horribly suck… i can be very emotional and when i’m frustrated i tend to cry and i don’t want that to happen with this

Ah yeah I get that, it’s so hard to go against a parent. Best advice I can offer is to remember that your mom is a sinner too. Everyone sins, and there’s no such thing as the perfect Christian (besides saints and stuff). If she puts you down for not being “Christian enough,” remember that even if you practice your faith differently, you and your mom love God equally and that’s what truly matters

Also for the crying thing I have no advice because I’m the exact same way 😭. Just keep going with the conversation even if tears are involved, cause your emotions don’t make your argument less valid

yeah, the tears just make it a bit harder 😭 but i want to tell her, i just need to do it and get it over with. if she reacts poorly that’s on her. we each have our own faiths and our own walks. my walk is only for God to judge, and not her. i appreciate your responses, it helps a lot 🫶
