Reasons: - Loved ones passing away - They have trouble walking/bussing/driving to community/friends/family - Social interactions are harder because they’re hard of hearing and aren’t as funny as they used to be and have trouble and have trouble understanding conversation - they’re no longer part of the workforce - often live alone or move in to senior housing far from friends and family
There was a lonely old man who used to live at the senior care facility I worked at. Sweetest person I ever met, I’d talk to him during my shifts, he was lonely though. His wife passed, he had dementia, and his kids just dumped him there and seldom visited. One day he seemed really excited, was old dressed up and he told me his son was going to pick him up and take him to a restaurant for his birthday. Only his son never showed up. He spent hours waiting in the lobby.
