
Yes. Basically the only reason the US, Canada, and European countries etc had any civil rights gained since the USSR’s creation is bc of the “threat of communism”. The quality of life was vastly improved after the workers seized the means of production. Literacy rates and life expectancy shot thru the roof, workers finally had rights, everyone had housing etc. The workers of the world saw the success of the USSR and this radicalized them.
Many workers’ revolutions were sparking up around the world post WW2. Korea, Cuba, China, SWANA etc. This is why the Cold War happened. The US and its allies had to stop their people from revolt and revolution so they started giving them small concessions like some labor rights, workers protections etc to prevent a working class revolution.
They’re still doing it today. Look at Korea, China, Cuba, Venezuela etc. and it’s largely worked in the US and Europe bc of government funded red scare propaganda and the complacency of Americans in particular. Americans by and large don’t want to give up their comfort for a workers movement
