I’m from Alabama, literally so happy to be out, I LOVE RI. I’m a senior, I accepted a job here, my boyfriend also from Alabama also accepted a job here. here’s to new mindset and growth 🍷

I’ve moved around a bunch growing up and the most unhappy my entire family had been was when we lived in the south. Not to group a whole bunch of people together but they were the rudest most closed minded people I’ve met

Like I’m not saying this to negate other people’s negative experiences here, but I for one am incredibly grateful to have grown up in my corner(s) of the South. Moving away for the past 10+ years has made me appreciate it more. Big, diverse city, one of many deeply left leaning areas in the region. Sick beaches. Multilingual area. Bomb food. Bomb music. Long progressive history that the community was very in touch with. It’s not perfect ofc but you can’t just lump the whole region together 1/2

Especially when in my experience much of the criticism lodged at the South has to do with problems that are in fact present nationwide. Schematically relegating them to one region just makes people other places feel better.
