i hate how this world has become. everyone is forgiving and caring and empathetic when someone who is all smiles and laughs is secretly depressed, but when someone is visibly depressed and isolated and quiet, it’s taboo and no one wants to deal with it

and maybe it’s a hot take but i hate the whole “my friend hasn’t texted me so im not going to text them and im cutting contact” HEY SO CHECK ON YOUR FRIEND. maybe they are ghosting intentionally, but maybe they’re depressed and isolating themselves and spiraling and as their friend they NEED YOUR SUPPORT

“it’s not my job” YES IT IS. you chose to be their friend. friends support each other. friends lift each other up and hold each other accountable. if it becomes “it’s not my job” for everyone then who’s job is it??? depression is ugly. it’s debilitating and literally and illness of the mind. your friends need your support and automatically assuming the worst without even checking in or communicating is unfair
