I’m currently on my journey to get diagnosed and medication. It took a very long time to finally get scheduled for a test because the only places that do are 2 hours away and have insane waiting lists (13 months minimum). I can’t tell you what the actual test and diagnostic process is like but if you want some more info on what it took to get scheduled I can give you some

We went through a pretty quick assessment in person and was kind of “in and out”.

Did you get medication?

What symptoms did you have? I had them since I was young but it went under the radar (also I loved school: hyper focus and I’m a teacher now so)

I did, yes! I had to go through two or three non-stimulant meds before finally getting Vyvanse.

Ok that’s good! What were your symptoms? How was the test? In my area I’m having a lot of trouble finding places that will test and it takes a long time

I have a ton of issue with attention and task initiation and completion. I’m grateful my provider is also ND and understood that my main goal was to get medication.

Yeah I can get that. I have that as well. My area doesn’t have many places for diagnosis unfortunately. I’m gonna start the process in another town I’m moving to next year.

Okay sure! Yeah that’s was the issue in my town, tears take multiple visits and there was a year plus waiting time. Which is crazy

To finally get on the wait list I had to have an online meeting with the people at the testing place and explain some of my symptoms and how they are affecting my life. To even be considered for the waitlist I had to talk to my therapist, general practitioner, and psychiatrist. I have 2-3 more meetings until ik if I’m officially diagnosed. I really hope it’s not as hard for you as it has been for me

Oh lord yeah same here with the online meeting! I am not a fan of that. Hence the focusing, I focus better in person. I’m trying. To see a psychiatrist, but I don’t have a therapist and don’t think I need one
