For people who are on depression meds, how did you talk to your doctor about them? Im scared because I really need them (Ive been depressed almost all my life but its gotten worse) but Im scared they are gonna think Im lying to get pills

they shouldn't think you're lying if they're a good doctor! and it's only ever seen as lying when it's benzodiazepines in my experience. no need to worry! definitely advocate for yourself to get the treatment you need <3

They won’t. Depression medications are not addictive/commonly abused substances. Definitely talk to your doctor, they will either be able to prescribe something or refer you to a psychiatrist. Don’t be afraid. Just be honest and tell your story. Proud of you for seeking the care that you need! 💖

Yeah, definitely don’t ask for those outright. A doctor will prescribe them if they feel you need them. Typically they are only used on a short term basis.
