I'm going to the OBGYN to get my fist check up and I want to bring up PCOS and the symptoms I have but I want my doctor to take me seriously. What can I say or mention to make sure she doesn't just brush me off like others have?

Cite the diagnostic criteria! If your periods are irregular, that’s one down and you just need one more, either high androgens or an irregular number of cysts on your ovaries (I say irregular because it’s normal to have some functional cysts — that’s ovulation). Push for a blood hormone test or a transvaginal ultrasound.

Push for tests and be firm about what you know is not normal.

I don't think I've had any cysts but I was told before i scheduled my appointment by my roommates that I might have higher androgens because I'm always plucking my chin hairs and always shaving. Could that be true? I don't want to sound crazy when I tell my doctor 😭
