Btw gang the most touristy thing I did was whale watching/snorkeling/snuba experience and I genuinely got to swim with turtles and see how they cleaned themselves

Hi local!! I love your home and I’m trying extremely hard to not be an annoying tourist - the people I have met have been so open and welcoming and genuinely helpful when I needed help. I have friends here now!!

I live with my parents, I make $20 an hour as a para. But it rolls in as $700 biweekly I get paid thro summers. I DoorDashed a bit, tutor, and have a weekend job. It was MAX $6000 for flight, rentals, food, clothes. Budget but also I went in a down time

Go in the winter! Cooler but not cold, whales are here from their migration, and cheaper then massive spring/summer time. I went before spring breaks too, which was more difficult w work but less costly on my pocket

It’s worth it - I booked it all within a month. Flights are cheaper the earlier you plan it all

Most are. I don’t speak for everyone as I know many entire families that have been forced to move due to the tourist that stay and feel differently. But for the people vacationing, as long as they come here educated with respect to the ‘āina and wildlife it doesn’t matter to me. For me it’s when they take rocks/shells or littering or just like a basic ignorance thing. Or the ones that bother the turtles/seals. Those are the things to me are definitely upsetting.
