Tip culture is getting absolutely ridiculous. If I am not at a restaurant and SITTING down to eat. I am not tipping turn your little card machine around bro.

ok at least click the no tip button so the transaction completes cuz yall won’t even click anything then we gotta go in and click shit for you and literally fake ur signature to move on to the next order most of the time. most of our pay comes from tips btw! speaking as a barista/line cook

tipping culture gives the corporations an excuse to pay their workers less dawg. I’m not participating in that shit.

This isn’t giving what you think it’s giving

Do you advocate for fair wages in any other way or just the one that is advantageous for you? 😂😂😂😂😂😂

telling people to fall for the most obvious capitalist ploy isnt giving what you think it’s giving, either 👍

if I said “I don’t use Temu because of unethical working environments” would you also treat that as advocacy? or do you only make up shit to get mad at when it benefits you?

I’m just wondering if you care about the issue enough to do anything to change it that’s not entirely self-serving

Boycotting is great when used in conjunction with other forms of protest. Using it as your sole course of action will yield little to no results

sidenote, not sure why my morals matter in regards to calling out a corporate scam lmao

Because if you’re not tipping and also not advocating for any change on a systemic level, then the action you’re taking is just hurting the service workers and not the corporations

“not falling for a blatant corporate scam is hurting the workers” it’s not helping them substantially either but ok

at the end of the day not tipping makes us less money so it is hurting us lol

alternatively, trends in higher tipping gives companies an excuse to lower wages. at the end of the day, it’s just putting more cost on the consumer & falsely “helping” the employees. y’all are literally arguing in support of an obvious corporate ploy 😭

I feel like it’s tricky because I’ve had this conversation before with baristas and of course every barista says to tip them. But then some baristas I talked to said they get paid $19 hourly and THEN expect tips. Thats not even what I made as a manager of chick fil a. If you get paid hourly, you shouldn’t expect tips
