my theory is that how everyone acted in that scene reflects on how close they are to abstracting (aka how much control caine has over them) - kinger’s just kinger, if the console wasn’t on he would’ve seen through caine’s trap - zooble wants to leave, they’re the most mentally sound other than kinger - so do ragatha and gangle, but they’re a bit more unsure - pomni’s looking for excuses not to press the button and is hesitant about leaving the circus - jax

but kinger is still tripping me up because he's obviously mentally sound to a certain extent in the dark, like is he like that because cain can't see them as well in the dark or is there something else going on??

but also, technically cain was the one who set the adventure going "allegedly" and that means he noticed and successful kept jax from abstracting right? but like at the same time what kinger said makes me think cain can force them to abstract so why would he go out of his way to keep jax from doing so?? 🤔 like does he actually care what happens to them or is does he only care because he'll disappear if they all abstract?

for kinger he wasn’t really in darkness since he left the pillow fort, everywhere the gang went had lighting, and during the button scene, the console light was really bright, bright enough for senile caine to shine through

honestly everything in the adventure feels designed to make jax abstract to the point where i wonder if that was caine’s intention. i think him giving jax the visions was his last resort but jax STILL held through miraculously

right 🤔 like he was obviously going to stop pomni or warn her atleast before he came out of his hidy hole, and for the most part all their adventures are in brightly lit spaces so kinger stays in a senile state

im honestly surprised he hasn't abstracted since the whole frog thing, like he's lost everyone close to him and he uses pranks as a way of keeping himself sane but i think this whole episode especially the way it ended might be his tipping point

like first cain's goal was obviously zooble but now its jax, to me its like cain just chooses whoever's the closest to losing their shit to go after. But i cant handle to see jax go through this man, i love him so much
