I’m sick of people making judgements abt other people off of a single tik tok comment and pretending they know wether or not someone has a mental disorder when they aren’t a doctor themselves— I had very severe adhd my entire life growing up but didn’t get tested bc I was homeschooled, I went to public high school and decided to get diagnosed in my 3rd yr bc I realized it would really help me to have an official diagnosis AND because of all the stuff I learned abt on tik tok i was able to…
So instead of getting all upset and judgmental whenever you see a whisper of a hint of someone self diagnosing themselves of a TikTok— just know that you don’t know their real story and encourage them (kindly) to go see a doctor and seek out real professional resources that can help them even further
Ok I realize I may be a bit too mad up in these comments- I also hate when ppl trivialize adhd by claiming they have it when they only experience minor symptoms, but i think the best way to deal with that is to direct them to more resources so that they can be truly educated abt it, since ultimately we don’t rlly know what their internal world is like and they may actually have it, and being very rude and angry towards ppl who self diagnose can make others afraid to come forward when they should
I hate when ppl make adhd a cute quirky thing and not a genuine health thing. I struggle with emotional disregulation and it fucking sucks. Not to mention the medication they put you on makes it worse. Ppl like that have no idea how much of a struggle adhd actually is when you have it 😭😭😭
…learn a lot more abt myself and abt adhd and it genuinely helped me learnt that adhd is in fact real (my parents didn’t think it was while i was growing up even though it was right under their noses) AND that I did have it and that it affected me every single day in almost every aspect of my life. Now Im in college and medicated, and getting a prescription for my adhd has changed my life. and I don’t think I’d ever have been diagnosed and gotten help if it weren’t for TikTok.
