If you live in Washington state please call your representative and tell them to veto WA HB2321, they are trying to pass legislation to prevent 3d printing firearms but it’s just going to hurt the small creators and people who make cool stuff

i mean this genuinely, but wouldn’t being able to print firearms be dangerous if people can’t tell the difference between real and fake

Idk. I’d have to do more research but based on the headline you presented Idk if it’s a bad thing to lockdown 3d printing if it means less firearms being printed

This isn’t about the firearms, it’s about the software they are using to prevent it. It destroys small buisness and prevents all 3d printing innovation if all of a sudden they want to block ANY FILE. It’s about the ruling creeping into any area not just guns

that i understand bc 3d printing is a legit art form, but it sounds to me like it’s specifically about printing firearms, which i understand to an extent

Yes but blocking the one thing allows for the blocking of LOTS of things, that’s how the software works, just throw in let’s say Star Wars helmets bc Disney says no and now you have to buy their helmet you can’t make your own

By passing this bill it means that you are ok with never being able to print freely anymore, because it can be expanded from just firearm components

Eh sounds like it might be worth it for the greater good? Like ppl can still produce art just not 3d printed stuff

3d printing is art, but let’s say there is a cheap alternative to a part for something that a company makes super expensive for no reason, they could put a block on it forcing the expensive alternative. It destroys small custom shops that rely on 3d printing those replacement parts

code is protected speech under the first amendment, so this bill violates the first amendment
