the frats writing some weak ass essays about how they don’t stand for SA is absolutely disgusting and performative

Do you mean just frats in general or did the specific frat at Cornell post about it? Because I feel like a completely unrelated frat speaking on it and calling attention to what the Cornell frat did shouldn’t be considered disgusting and performative.

Shouldn’t we want men (specifically frats) to hold other men accountable?

the fact is that these frats are acting like they’re saints when they’re really not. cornell is not the only place this happens. it happens EVERYWHERE and the men know about it and don’t care. they’re only doing it to save face now that people are trying to get all fraternies removed

it’s not real accountability when they don’t even provide any source of help. words do nothing. ACTIONS matter. they would never go out of their way to help any girl the same way not one man in that group chat of 57 tried to help.

exactly it’s pointless i’d rather not hear them speak at all

I get what are you saying, but it kind of feels like dammed if they do, damned if they don’t. You’d get mad if they stayed silent and didn’t say anything, but also are mad that they are saying stuff? I’d rather them speak up and say something versus nothing at all. And what do you expect the frat as a whole to do?

i think you’re purposely missing the point that performative activism is not actual awareness. especially when they’re not even offering resources for victims to report to. a chatgpt generated essay IS doing nothing. and i expect the frats to look inward at the fact that they have participated in harming women or know others who have.

Then we just don’t agree. I don’t think speaking up about a problem is performative activism. You can’t possibly look at a frat saying what Cornell did is wrong and just read their minds and know they don’t mean it? You’re putting a broad blanket over all frats just because you disagree with what some have done. I think it’s personally weird that you would rather people be quiet than not speak up about a horrible thing. If a police department wrongly hurt someone, and another police department

Didn’t say anything, it would be arguably worse than calling that police apartment out. You can’t make a broad statement over every frat to ever exist.

you might settle for ai generated essays but i’m tired of weak bare minimum bs from men. you clearly haven’t been keeping up either because numerous women are calling out their own rapists and assaulters that are in these frats for the hypocrites that they are. it might not be “all frats” but it sure as hell is way too many
