If I remember correctly there was a story a while back about a man who became a predator out of nowhere and it was found he had a brain tumor and after its removal he returned to the personality he had prior to the tumor, so there’s a possibility it’s crossed wire or brain issue that causes it. Again, isn’t an excuse to act on it.

Here’s how I see it: Option 1: completely pathologize it, ignore systemic and cultural contributions, write off pedophiles as abnormalities Option 2: harder - contend with the cycles of violence we condone and the way we sexualize youth and blame it on that Option 3: see it as a combination of option 1 and 2

The song explains some of the societal/cultural factors like how we fetishize youth and depict sex in porn which normalizes that type of abuse but this is kinda scary to contend with bc it makes pedophilia seem less like this remote, abstract thing and more like something many more people play into on some level by hinting at it with schoolgirl outfits etc.

It’s a really hard conversation because we don’t want to kink shame people for being into consensual adult bdsm or whatever, but people are often attracted to things bc they are forbidden and you can see how porn addiction, for example, pushes people to more and more forbidden content and kind of go in that direction

To be clear, this is an explanation that I’m suggesting so that we can have that complicated conversation and try to figure out if there are systemic cultural issues, it is NOT an excuse - there’s no justification that makes it okay, but there might be changes we can make to reduce harm to children

It’s so nasty when I was younger I had a neighbor and her husband was a child predator so she would let him record her daughter changing and touch her we tried calling the police but they said we lied and covered up the evidence
