If you were in GT as a kid what did yall do there? I was smart enough but they didn’t let me in because of my bad ADHD.

Once a week we were pulled from class to go to another room. In 2nd grade it was just dumb puzzles and stuff, but 3rd grade and up each year had a theme and we did tons of stuff relating to it (including field trips). I don’t remember 3rd grade but 4th was the civil war and we drew sticks see who would be on each side, and played the card game war as “battles”, did deep dive studies into each battle, and went to a civil war reenactment.

Ohh. Tbh it was prob the same as what you learned just with extra work. We did a lot of stem based projects when I was in it (we made Lego cars and robots). But it also made me miss the class trip to the amusement park so that pissed me off

5th grade was chemistry so they came up with a story about a tanker truck crashed and was spilling into a local river but we didn’t know what it was, so we spent the whole year learning about chemistry and each week would do an experiment using what we learned to help figure out what it was and how to limit harm (ph testing, titer tests, it was really cool). Im sorry they didn’t let you in, I have horrible adhd and was still put into excelled classes and the gifted program (we called it EAGLES)

Luckily I got the “takes tests super fast” brand of adhd. It means I make really dumb mistakes on written questions and not do great, or write the wrong letter in the line on multiple choice if they use that method instead of bubbles. But scantrons? Bread and butter right there
