The working class has no freedom, democracy or autonomy to make the best & healthiest choices for their lives. If you espouse beliefs that threaten the stability of the US empire, they lock you up, kill you or deport you. Our lives and rights are determined by a few thousand rich guys, not by us. Why would I leave my community? We need as many class conscious ppl as possible to change things. I’m not gonna run away like a coward. And really no other countries compare except for other settler colonies. And countries that still benefit from their colonialism and imperialism. But we’re the biggest world power currently so we hold the most responsible for the dire state of the world

Imperialism exists in every country. American politics are not perfect. I am not saying that these things do not exist. It is naive to assume that America has even good politics but I am still proud of the American people that have allowed me to exist as a human in more freedom than a lot of other countries.

I read. I understand that American history is messy and complex much like any other country. If you went out more you would have, like me, studied with immigrant women from the Middle East who moved to America and are able to get educated. You would have gone Christmas caroling and watched a Christian man from Somalia you sang for break down in tears because he can finally celebrate openly. I do empathize with becoming jaded especially with current administration though. Please have hope.
