If you've had lidocaine gel before an IUD insertion, do you find it helped? Is it enough?

I went with copper bc it lasts for longer but I only got 0.5 of Ativan before insertion that didn’t work so they loaded me up with benedryl

The place I'm going to see is offering lidocaine gel so I'm hoping that is helpful 🥲 and see I want to go with copper for the same reason but I heard it makes your period atrocious and painful asf. Currently my period I use 3 tampons total and I don't ever have symptoms at all so I'm not keen to give that up buttttt the hormonal only lasts 3-5 years :/ ugh. And damn just an Ativan?! 😭 why is pain management for women so horrendous!!!!

It def has made my periods more painful and heavier 😩 but it’s worth it to me (I bleed thru a super tampon in like two hours now)
