I just saw a tik tok where someone said they “break checked” their toddler in a parking lot becuase they didn’t want wear their seatbelt and I— what??? You’re the MOTHER!?? They’re a toddler?? and the comments supported it dear lord

That’s so fucked up. I don’t even actually break check my friends, I’ll do a little tap when going 2 miles an hour at absolute most. But doing that to A CHILD?!

Idk if she gave a little break check at a low speed (they’re in a parking lot so assuming) it’s showing that actions and choices do have consequences and that listening to mom when shes trying to keep you safe is important

Actually explaining it to them with patience, getting better buckles that they can’t undo themselves until they are old enough to comprehend what the buckle is there for, maybe even explaining real car accidents that have happened and how people have been injured (this one was what my parents used for me and my siblings because we’ve had family members almost die in accidents)

If they aren’t old enough to understand then they shouldn’t be able to unbuckle themselves in all reality.
