she's asking about your lineage, but yeah it normally is a weird racially motivated question

I’ve been getting the “where are you actually from?” question for as long as I can remember. Also born and raised in the U.S. I’m just mixed so people always try to guess what I am. (It hasn’t gotten less annoying)

Still very weird though considering I only told my boss that tidbit of personal info. And I guarantee you if my last name was hella anglicized, I wouldn’t be asked something like that.

white people still have lineage??😭 like i said you're right and it's weird but it's also that some people are ignorant and it's just a curiosity question to them not everything is that deep

Ofc they do lol. But what I’m saying is I wouldn’t be asked that if I was just a regular schmegular white person! 🥲

They’re a grown adult if you’re asking for someone’s ethnicity you can say that. You don’t say where are you really* from especially if they just told you the US. that is a very common microaggression like veryy common it’s not mistakable so like if it felt intentional 9/10 it was. let’s not play dumb

Oh it was def intentional. After I said Cleveland, she just went “Mhm okay. Alright” and kinda shrugged rolled her eyes. I didn’t really know what to say after that, was bamboozled asf so I just smiled.
