Thoughts on Alani being sued?

It’s kinda stupid. It’s not like one can killed her or there was some hidden poisonous ingredient, it’s an energy drink. It’s known that energy drinks have warnings and that they’re dangerous if over-consumed, especially to kids & people with certain conditions. Having 6 every other day is crazy enough, but as a teen, that’s heinous. I blame the parents. I wouldn’t have expected her to know or fully grasp that it’s that serious, but her parents likely did and didn’t crack down on it

Honestly I think that adding some kind of warning about overconsumption to the packaging could help. Like, a small warning/symbol on the can, with a noticeable warning on bulk cases, something that parents doing grocery shopping for their kids would be able to see and research more

Deadass because we saw the same thing with the Panera drinks. 6?!? That’s 1200mg the recommended is 100mg

It’s like suing DeKuyper for liver failure after drinking a whole bottle of 100-proof schnapps

Personally I think it’s unlikely the parents really grasped it. Excessive caffeine consumption is very normalized, esp for students. Idk that it’s really Alani’s fault, but there needs to be better education abt the risks

There should definitely be more emphasis on the dangers of caffeine in schools and PSA to parents. Forget about the high fructose corn syrup in soda, look at the caffeine levels when your kid drinks 2 full bottles of Mountain Dew with their school lunch. I was a soda fanatic in middle/high school and I’m talking multiple cans a day. I’m 24 and now if I have too much caffeine, it’ll burn when I pee due to it inflaming my bladder

Yes! I’m studying to teach health and it was brought up how easily caffeine can be included with nutrition units because it can kill (arguably faster and more abrupt) than sugar

Yeah, I think a lot of parents are very informed on things like underage drinking, but the energy drink thing has blown up so quickly that parents don’t rly know about it because the products are marketed to young people and didn’t exist when they were that age. It’s also difficult to monitor caffeine intake of someone in their late teens bc they are already becoming independent
