being online doesn’t help. it’s so common to see men refusing to listen to women, men blaming women for being assaulted, men not seeing women as equal beings online that i can’t help but look around and wonder “how many of you feel the same way?”. the cornell rape case, for example. how many awful things have we heard about jane doe from men? why is it so funny to them to make fun of female suffering? the solution might be “get off the internet”, but that still leaves that doubt of “how many?”
same. it’s so fucking frustrating and disheartening to constantly be surrounded by men, everything we do is plagued by their misogyny and hatred. especially within the past year or so, i’ve realized just how many men are maybe half as good as the average woman. like god this planet sucks
“how many of them believe im not a person like they are? how many believe i deserve to be raped because of how i dressed, or because i wanted to go to a party?”. idk, im just sort of at a loss. after being abused and abandoned and sexually assaulted by men in my life as well, im just tired. how did you guys cope with it?
that’s the funny part. i was assaulted by a “good guy”. someone i should trust. someone who was shy and sweet. someone that wasn’t at a frat. my dad is a “good guy”. a union steward that fought for other’s rights, and then he beat my mother senseless. and the. he called me a worthless piece of shit that no one would ever love. this is part of the problem. people think it’s a particular kind of guy that does that shit, but it could be ANYONE. it could be your friend. your brother.
