it’s nuanced. i think on one hand they relate to sexism because it’s an experience they’ve likely had as someone afab. on the other hand, they’re now men, so why do they WANT to be here?

i think it's bioessentialist to presume that all women's issues apply to all trans men but there's a lot of overlap and theres the reality of (most) having female anatomy and being treated as women in many cases despite being men

They don’t have to anounce themselves as a trans man on the men-focused chats? They can use the communities for their interests whatever they may be. I’m on NFL and Pop Culture for example. If they want to talk about trans-specific experiences there are also welcoming communities for the LGBTQ+ that aren’t GirlTalk & might be better than GirlTalk. Finally, they could create their own community if they wanted a space specifically for trans men without cis men. There’s no lack of places to yap.

I’m hesitant to say “GirlTalk is a safe space for all marginalized community” for a couple of reasons. First, GirlTalk is for women (ALL women) and its about our experiences. Second, GirlTalk is not always the safest place to be.
