i mean technically partner is something that was mostly popularized by the lgbt community as a way for them to keep their partners anonymous and for them to keep themselves safe 🤷‍♀️ plenty of ppl say partner when they're dating nowadays

if I’m replying to someone saying it’s most common in gay relationships, and adding “too” in response about a heterosexual one, that means I’m acknowledging a wide range of identifications use the word partner. it’s almost as if the word too connotes something.

because that reply was in direct response to me saying boyfriend and girlfriend can be swapped out for partner. so I brought up married couples that used partner too as an example to say calling someone your partner doesn’t cancel out the fact you’re unmarried. quite the opposite of what you’re insisting
