I love this post I found so here are some facts about epileptics: -it effects 1/26 people (not always diagnosed in childhood) -2-5x more prone to depression -1/3 people with epilepsy have psychiatric condition (more in comments!! sorry double post)-we can live normal lives! have jobs, drive, party etc. it may just not look the same as everyone because most epileptics need meds -only 3-5% of epileptics are triggered/affected by flashing lights -PLEASE know the first aid for seizures, for some people (like me!) it’s not always a medical emergency, a google search can teach you!!
I was diagnosed at 18, I lived my whole childhood completely normally and was jarred by the diagnosis. I took two years off of school, the first 6 months after I had a seizure I couldn’t drive. It was extremely isolating and I don’t know anyone who relates to my experience. So just for my sake, you might meet someone or know someone with epilepsy. Just keep an open mind to their disorder and know how to help :))
