Mind you I was the only Black kid in many of my classes. I lost a lot of ppl I thought I were my friends to Socratic circles.

kinda unrelated i remember we were talking about fact vs opinion in elementary school (in oklahoma) and my teacher went “if i say ‘i don’t like black people…’ that would be my opinion”. i was the only black person in class and a white girl looked at me and went “im sorry”

i genuinely feel like they use those moments as like a gateway to soft launching racist and bigoted ideologies from a place of authority bc they know if u were to report it, its the whole class vs u, and youd get ostracized if u spoke up. super weird

SAME. mind you, im in political science and still when we have debates its NEVER like that. ever. no one could even dare to say such things comfortably. but i guess thats public education in the south for ya😵‍💫
