PSA: you need to be shitting normally and regularly. this is serious. there’s been a huge uptick in young women getting colon cancer. biggest risk factors are ultra processed foods, high dairy intake (yogurt, cream cheese), prepackaged snacks. eat fiber!!

I blame the high protein craze for some of this, ppl r so focused on hitting their protein but completely forget about fiber

colon cancer is incredibly rare for women in their early 20s without genetic predisposition and family history. your odds of being diagnosed with any cancer at this age are something around 1 in 1,000 in any given year, and many cancers are treatable and won’t kill you. it’s still important to eat healthy and get lots of fiber to prevent future issues though!

if you don’t have insurance rn you can try adding fruits and veggies to your diet (or even high fiber cereal) and seeing if it makes a difference. some stores have free fruits for kids, bananas are cheap, or fiber one cereal works. there’s an official list of foods that are bad for your bowels you can check. it’s hard for me too bc i LOVE bagels and cream cheese :( and im a huge yogurt person

That’s what I’ve been doing 🫡 and paying attention to the fact there’s two different kinds of fiber and you need more of one than the other. I have health anxiety so I’m probably just psyching myself out but yea colon cancer is my biggest fear

90% of women aren’t getting enough fiber and 97% 🫨 of men aren’t getting enough fiber. def the protein craze. you need 25g of dietary fiber A DAY

it’s a HUGE issue and it’s getting worse and worse bc unfortunately we live in a country that hates us and only feeds us crap. but also diet culture has gotten so bad that people aren’t getting enough fruits and veggies bc they’re focused on protein. and also ppl love to sit on the toilet and scroll for way too long. 5 min max potty time yall

I had my first colonoscopy at 18 (I have Crohn’s) and they found a polyp. It’s never too early to get one

And if you want my honest opinion, the colonoscopy procedure isn’t even that bad. The prep is what sucks

Also because companies strip fiber out of their food because fiber is the bodys indicator that it’s full, and if you remove the fiber then you eat more so they make more money
