The current death penalty is quite brutal! The lethal injection does not knock you out long enough for you to not feel your death. You are completely conscious as you feel your veins burning up, as the paralytic stops your breathing (it will feel like you are being buried alive), and you will feel when you will go into cardiac arrest. Learned that when they one of the student orgs at my law school brought in this one professor who researches this and published books about it.
