The current fascist regime just made it more acceptable to be a POS in general. Trans people are just the current scapegoat for issues they have no capability to address. Imprison trans people, groceries will be cheaper (they won’t be). Keep trans people out of the public eye, immigrants disappear (won’t happen). Transphobia is just the current blueprint for what they can get away with in targeting any minority. It won’t stop with trans folks.

I wouldn’t say more people are transphobic. but i would say people are more transphobic and more openly so. the kind of transphobia i face is definitely different now then a couple years ago but that’s just kind of how transphobia is. it’s honestly a bit of a fledgling bigotry. transsexuality and transgender identities didn’t really enter mainstream consciousness until the late 19th early 20th century and has been very heavily tied to cultural zeitgeist around sex, gender, and pseudoscience
