I think so many men are unbothered with the Cornell 7 case because they watch too much porn. The porn industry capitalizes on abusing women.i’ve seen men unashamedly say they wish they were in the group chat or if there were enough dudes participating “they can’t come after all of us”. imo its porn and power, they feel anger at women being able to have more agency over their lives and opt out of interacting with men as much
ofc <3 i really think you’re onto something though, and i think it raises a concern about porn that feminists have been talking about for years. i’m pretty sure some studies have also come out about this too?? but we HAVE to talk about how porn normalizes violence (ESPECIALLY sexual violence) towards women. and how effective it is!!! like there is no way someone can genuinely believe a human would EVER want to have sex with that many people for that long. it would hurt so bad it wouldn’t even be
for “dominating women” especially, i feel like there’s an echo chamber amplifying on itself of what masculinity looks like. toxic masculinity has become so ubiquitous that it feels integral to the masculine social hierarchy where men simply seeing women as just another human is looked down on/bullied out by other men. and i don’t see how to change that besides having brave men work against the current to collectively redefine what a “cool guy” looks like
as humans our brains are not wired to understand the world where we can have access 24/7 to view any kind of sex/kink we want on demand. it’s addictive and absolutely engineers our brain chemistry, where we’ve largely been influenced by what the porn industry simply sees as the most profitable. I’m all about sex positivity, but men need to recognize they’re selling their brains and how the connect with/view women all for the toxic dopamine hits
Oh for sure! I totally agree with you. And some people are trying to excuse their behavior because “they were intoxicated too! 😣”. I’ve been blackout wasted before and I have never once cheated, driven a car, hurt someone, etc. Alcohol doesn’t make people do bad things, people make themselves do bad things. Like people try and use drugs n all as an excuse and yeah sure, your judgement is impaired, but you’re still 100% aware of what you’re doing.
omg don’t get me started on CNC. i feel like men’s eyes glaze over at the consensual part, like they’re absolutely not having level headed conversations beforehand on desires, limits, boundaries, check-ins, non verbal signs, aftercare, etc. sometimes i think they see CNC as the new and improved “it wasn’t rape, she said she likes it rough”
God that makes me want to vomit. Actually. Like ok imma be so real. I’m almost 21. I had sex with my boyfriend for the first time in August. I like it when he’s a little rough and playful. I like it when we both share control. But it is OK because we have talked about it countless times and he listened when I told him something hurt or I needed something else. Consent doesn’t mean just do whatever and men have such a problem understanding that for some reason.
