One of mine had such a bad cavity and all of mine were impacted and the pain of enduring nerve damage and pain and swelling of gums around the surrounding teeth for me was WAY WORSE than the recovery of the procedure. A lot of people are scared of being put under, if that is what you are doing. Have knowledge that these are professionals and do this everyday and are trained to do anesthesia , you are safe. Afterwards, your mouth will be numb and bloody and you will be loopy. It wont feel bad

I have to have my wisdom teeth taken out. One of them ended up with a pretty big hole in it. The nerves in the tooth is in the process of dying according to my dentist. So I figured why not just go ahead and remove them all? Save myself the trouble in the long run. I’m already in pretty serious pain with the dying tooth. Idk how imma pull through my gums being cut for it to be removed because it’s also grown in at an angle.

i got one of those ice pack holders that straps around your head (especially helpful since i got both sides done at once), dual action pain reliever (it’s ibuprofen and tylenol mixed; one helps the inflammation and one helps the pain), and cleared my schedule. anytime i tried to get up and do much my face would start throbbing hella bad. and also, you’re gonna want to really stick to the soft foods for like a week at least. instant mashed potatoes, soup, pudding, jello etc.

So I get my teeth out Wednesday. My boss knows I’m getting them all out. She scheduled me th following Saturday through Sunday. 12s too. Yall think I’ll be okay to work three 12s after 3 days or recovery?

So I need over the counter unhinged pain relief that worked for you. Currently the only thing helping is a mix of Tylenol, ibuprofen, and a goody powder.

I also need ideas on how to plan my groceries around this. What is best to munch on? What was your healing timeline? My doctor says most recover pretty quick but quick could be defined anywhere from two days to ten 😂

And you’ll think “oh this is ok” but it will get worse. Make sure you’re on top of the medications they prescribe you. I’m talking set alarms for at night to take more meds. You can alternate Tylenol and ibuprofen can be taken alternately I did that bc addiction runs in my fam (no opioids for me). For the first 48 hours icing is the most important and after that it doesn’t do too much besides numb your face if you feel pain. Heat is good after the first 48 hours

I recovered so quickly, but I also had shit to do so I needed to. If you’re able to rest definitely do so. Make sure NO sucking. You do not want dry socket fuck. I ate like jello and pudding and eggs and ice cream and mashed potatos and protein smoothies. I bruised on my jaw, if it happens it’s normal! I got better in like 1 week but my face was bruised well after a week

For pre surgery, you can keep taking over the counter medications or try orajel it worked a little bit. I hope you get better soon, mouth pain is the worst truly the quality of my life has gotten better since getting them out

I have a fairly high pain tolerance but keeping on top of icing and the medicine Id say first day pain 4, second day 6.5, third 8, 7, 5 down from there. It will be okay! Sorry to yap! I just know I was so scared when I was getting it done and would’ve liked it

goody powder is tylenol + aspirin (similar to ibuprofen) and caffeine, so be careful with the total amounts of tylenol and NSAIDs (ibuprofen=advil=motrin, aspirin, naproxen=aleve) that you’re taking. the = signs in there denote brand/generic equivalents of the same medication

i got SO hungry and ended up eating more solids than i should have, and i didn’t realize until i went for my follow-up that it had all gotten packed into the holes where the teeth were. when they rinsed it, the dental assistant and i were both disgusted. don’t be like me. stick to the soft foods and liquids until they give you the syringe flusher thing at your follow up 😭

the biggest thing also is stay ahead of the pain. don’t wait until you’re hurting to take your pain meds, set an alarm for 4 hours or whatever interval they recommend for the prescription they give you

highkey, no. your surgeons office should be able to give you a note. if they were shorter shifts maybe, but rest is like the most important part of recovery so i really wouldn’t advise it

Yea I would say no too. Prioritize yourself after to make sure you can give your all once you’re healed. You will be tired, and it’s best to not put any unnecessary stress on your body.
