My mom is an insane worrier. She makes a big deal out of everything that comes up in my life even if I’m not worried about it. She stresses me out when there’s no need to be. Anyone else have a parent like this? How do I get her to chill tf out?

me too, it was horrible in high school bc i’d be stressed abt something, AND she would be so my stress would basically be doubled 🫩 sometimes i solve the minor issue and then im like “see, it was easily fixed” and she kind of admits that whatever happened wasn’t that bad. tbh going to college and living away from my parents also helped, i think she realized im going to do things that stress her out and there isn’t much she can do to prevent that

Yes my mom was exactly this way when I was growing up especially when I was in high school- honestly the solution was a mix of setting very stern boundaries, that took a lot of blood sweat and tears to set up but ultimately helped protect our relationship (although I know not everyone is able to set boundaries with their parents), and other stuff happening like my mom ending up getting a job that allowed her to focus her attention and energy on to healthier things that she actually can control.

I live on my own during school, and that does help, but I’m home for summer rn and she’s driving me insane. Every week she wakes me up early thinking I’m going to be late for work on days I don’t work. Right now she’s freaking out about me getting things ready to sell in a consignment sale on time which is extremely low stakes. I don’t have the energy for this🫩

My mom interviewed for a job that would put her back it the office. I hope she gets it because I think her being at home allows her to think about life and family stuff too much. I’ll probably need to end up having a boundaries conversation with her especially since I’m a senior.

Honestly, if u can and haven’t already having a conversation about how she is really making things harder for u by stressing out about your stuff and asking her to take a step back to give you a chance to show her that you are responsible enough to do these things successfully on ur own can be really helpful, I had lost of convos like this w/ my mom when I was in high school and a freshman in college and it could be messy sometimes but ultimately helped A LOT
